Our Adoption Process

Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our dogs or cats.  We are a nationally based non-profit rescue.  All of us here at Crazy Rescue Ladies  want to make certain that every animal adopted goes to a loving home where it will be well cared for.  As a result, our adoption application includes a number of detailed questions that are a necessary part of our screening process. If your application is accepted, an Adoption Agreement will need to be completed and signed by the adopter and by the rescue before the adoption can be finalized. All information will be kept confidential.

Please note that adopting a new pet is a lifetime commitment that should never be made without careful consideration. You should never adopt a new pet on a whim or out of pity for the animal. Only complete this application if you are certain that you can provide your new pet with a lifetime of quality care and love.

There is a non-refundable  $5.00 application fee which is used to help cover administrative costs associated with processing applications which include long distance calls to applicants, personal and veterinarian references, arranging home visits and gas expense to complete the home visit.

We receive numerous Adoption Applications where applicants are only "puppy window shopping" or are not truly dedicated to adopting from Crazy Rescue Ladies Inc.  Each application takes between 10-12 hours to process. Please send payment via PayPal to crazyrescueladiesinc@gmail.com please include in notes your name, email address and transaction number

Our application process must be completed prior to any pet leaving us.  Fill out the application and email it back to us at crazyrescueladiesinc@gmail.com. You can find our application below as a word document or in PDF.  It may take us up to 5 days to process, so submit now if you are considering adopting from us in the future.

Please note that we do our best to answer all phone calls but we are unable to answer restricted or private calls.  So if you wish to talk to us you need to unblock your call to us.

Let's Begin

Our adoption fees start at $125 and go up to $450.

An application must be filled out completely and submitted. The forms can be found below in PDF or in Word. Once we receive your application it is sent to our resource department for a vetting and reference check as well as a home check and background check. Please notify your vet that someone will be contacting them. We receive over 75 applications a day and we are too busy to be denied information from your vet and then to have contact you to contact them.

We do adoptions out of state but reserve the right not to approve an adoption if we feel that we don't have any volunteers or fosters close by.

FAQ

Is the dog or cat I'm interested in still available?

Yes, as long as you see their picture on our website they are still up for adoption.  Another way of checking is to go to petfinder.com if an adoption is pending it will say so.  PLEASE read the description to see if your lifestyle fits the needs of the desired animal.

How long does it take to process an application?

The time from start to finish for each application varies.  We do call your vet and all personal references. Depending on how quickly we are able to speak with them will really dictate how long the application takes. (Again please tell you vet that we will be calling.) We also do have to schedule a home visit. This can take time depending on where you live and how easy it is for you to schedule a meeting with everyone present.

In general puppies and kittens take longer to process since demand is greater and CRL has  multiple applications for each dog or kitten.

Please remember we are all volunteers and have other jobs and responsibilities in addition to CRL. We know that you are excited to add a new member to your family, please refrain from calling too early or very late at night we do have families too.

What happens if there are multiply applications on the dog or cat I'm interested in?

We do not work on a first come first serve basis but rather strive to make the best match for each individual dog or cat.   Here at CRL we review every application that is received.  Often, we receive multiple applications that would make great homes however we must choose only one. When there are multiple applications, it can take a little longer for us to process since we are ultimately comparing applications and references.
